Your mission sets the intention for what your team wants to achieve, and your values are the principles you will use in your day-to-day decision-making.
The values you choose should support the internal and external mission. You should not choose more than four or five values. The values you choose should normally be from the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th levels of team consciousness because mastering these motivations is essential for organisational success.
Some teams/organisations choose seven values—one for each of the seven levels of consciousness. I am not decrying this approach, it just seems like a lot to remember, especially if you develop two or three behaviours that support each of the values. You may also want to prioritize your values in case at any time they conflict.
